Kaleidoscope Practice relies on rotating through the five focus areas to keep your practice on track. Each day you choose one or more of the focus areas for each piece you are practicing and practice using a technique designed to help you concentrate on that particular focus.
This Playbook gives you a four week plan for using the system, with a focus area and practice technique for each day. There are three techniques for each focus area, one for each learning stage, so there are really twelve weeks of techniques.
The Playbook is organized as a weekly practice guide. For the first five days in each week, you will work in one of the focus areas. The sixth day is reserved for “Spot Practice,” extra work on the trouble spots in your pieces, and for extra work on your technique. The seventh day is a “Play Day,” when you allow yourself to play through pieces you enjoy and take a break from the week’s work.
